The Atlantis Cave is a unique karst cave located in Ukraine, Kamianets-Podilsky District, Khmelnytskyi Region, near the village of Zavalya. This cave is a geological natural monument of national importance. The total length of the cave is 7,493 meters, and its area is 3,120 square meters. The cave was opened in 1969 and today is under the jurisdiction of the Khmelnytskyi Regional Council for Tourism and Excursions, offering visitors unforgettable excursions to the world of underground wonders.
Atlantis Cave is an underground karst wonder
Atlantis is a unique three-level cave in Podilla, which impresses with its structure. The first floor of the cave has large galleries, spacious enough to walk at full height. The second floor, known as the transition zone or labyrinth system, consists of narrower cavities. The third floor has two small passages about five meters high.
The temperature inside the cave is stable throughout the year and is about 11 degrees above zero, which makes it ideal for visits at any time. Unfortunately, the Atlantis cave suffered from neglect during a certain period of time, which led to the destruction of some of its parts. In addition, vandals contaminated, broke and even took away the crystals as souvenirs, leaving traces of their activities.
In order to protect and preserve the cave, entrance to Atlantis is now restricted and each visit to the dungeon is exclusively accompanied by a qualified guide. This prevents further vandalism and ensures the protection of the cave’s unique natural heritage.
