A trip to Rome

Rome is the cradle of world civilization, the eternal city on seven hills. In Rome, every stone on the pavement has been polished to a high sheen over the city’s more than 2,000 years of existence, a living history book that everyone should go through. Speaking of the Eternal City, one cannot fail to mention Caesar, the gladiators, the Colosseum, the Pope and the smallest state of the Vatican. For the amazing ruins, the ancient Pantheon, for the mighty Roman Empire, which gave us almost all the household items of our time, philosophy, painting and literature. Rome has long ceased to be just a city and the capital of Italy, it has become a place of power for all mankind, where you can go back 2000 years and see how it all began.

Rome has no equal, no city can be compared with its artistic, historical and architectural wealth. No city gives you the opportunity to get acquainted with so many sights of Rome as the Colosseum (Colosseo), St. Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican Museums, Trevi Fountain (Fontana di Trevi), Roman Forum (Foro Romano), Borghese Gallery (Galleria Borghese), Piazza Navona (Piazza Navona), Pantheon (Pantheon), Golden House of Nero (Domus Aurea), Church of Santa Constanta (Santa Constanta), Museum of Rome (Museo di Roma), Botanical Garden, etc. Rome, or the Eternal City, attracts visitors For over 2000 years, Rome has been one of the greatest and most romantic cities in the world. It has an attractive combination of spectacular sights and bustling life. Italian designer shops, fluffy ice creams, frothy cappuccinos and fine wines are just some of the things you can try on a tour of Rome.

The most famous sights of Rome that you can visit during your stay:

The Colosseum is perhaps the most important attraction in Rome. It was officially opened in 1980, and the celebrations on this occasion lasted 100 days. At its peak, the establishment supported 87,000 people.

The Trevi Fountain is the most famous fountain in Rome. Created in the 18th century, the sculptural ensemble depicts the god Neptune standing on a chariot in the form of a shell pulled by sea monsters. Legend says that if you throw a coin over your shoulder, you will return to Rome.

Roman Forum – in the immediate vicinity of the Colosseum, in ancient times it was the social and political center of Rome. The remains of the forum are on the Sacred Way. Relatively well preserved are two triumphal arches – the arch of Titus and the arch of Septimius Severus. Entrance to the forum is free.

Piazza di Spagna – Piazza di Spagna is one of the must-see stops for any tourist visiting Rome: especially in spring, when the stairs (Spanish Steps) turn into a carpet of beautiful flowers, offering breathtaking views. It got its name from the fact that the Spanish embassy is located nearby.

St. Peter’s Basilica – St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican – is the main temple of the Catholic world and is considered the largest Catholic church in the world.

The Pantheon is a temple that is over 2000 years old, the temple of all the gods. It is located in Piazza della Rotonda and was built in the 2nd century and became a Catholic church in the 7th. The Pantheon is the best preserved ancient building in Rome.

Piazza Navona – On Piazza Navona is the famous Fountain of the Four Rivers, decorated with four sculptures symbolizing the main rivers of the world – the Nile, Ganges, Danube and La Plata.

Capitol – on the Capitoline Hill there is a temple where meetings of the Roman Senate were held. Now there are museums on the hill, where you can get acquainted with a rich collection of ancient sculptures. It also houses the only surviving equestrian statue of Marcus Aurelius.

Castle of the Holy Angel – built by Emperor Hadrian as a tomb for his family, used as a fortification, later as a papal residence, a prison. Today the castle is a museum. On the terrace, which offers a magnificent panoramic view, there is a statue of the Archangel Michael, who gave his name to the palace.
